Finished First Sleeve

Despite the mistakes, I managed to finish the first sleeve on the sweater. Being the stubborn cuss that I am I decided that I had planned on ribbed cuffs so by golly that’s what I was going to have despite the fact that I hadn’t tapered the sleeve nearly as much as I should have.

I did a few inches of decreasing every other round, and then I switched from the size 10 needles to size 7 and did an inch of ribbing. I then switched from the size 7 to size 3 to really pull in the cuff. It worked.

The sleeve is a lot more full before the cuff than I had wanted but actually I kind of like it and it wears pretty well.

Whatcha think? Total disaster?

It looks great. It may actually be more comfortable than a more fitted sleeve as well.
In The Knitting Workshop book the author shows 6 different sleeves from fitted to even fulller fullest. Yours looks like either semi-fitted or full.
When working from the cuff up most patterns I’ve seen call for most of the increases in the transition from ribbing to body of sleeve, then knitted even until increases for shoulder shaping.

It looks great Mason!

It looks like a perfect fit for the sleeve in my opinion. I hope to do that well when I make my first sweater. Great job. :cheering:

Geez, it looks perfect!! I love it-see, that wasn’t so bad, was it?! LOL

Great job! I really do love that color

WOW!!! :cheering: :woot: :yay: Good for you! It looks GREAT!!! Being someone who has never completed a sweater I’m in awe :notworthy:.

Wow! It’s absolutely perfect. It’s exactly how I would want a sleeve to fit. Can’t wait to see you model the finished sweater!

Looks great Mason .

 lookin’ good!!

That looks great! Definitely not a disaster. As that guy in the Joy of Painting used to say, there are no mistakes, only happy accidents (or something to that effect).

That’s great, Mason! A little larger might be more comfortable and if you need to you can wear a long sleeve shirt under it w/o it binding!

It looks great! It’s a nice color, too.

 that color!

It looks great and I love the idea of changing needle sizes to get the fit you wanted. That color is wonderful too. Great job!

The sweater’s looking great! Way to improvise on the sleeves:thumbsup:

I think it looks great and gives you more room to move your arm. You wouldn’t want to be driving in a tight sweater, would ya:teehee:? Besides, it gives you the room to put a shirt under, since i heard WOTA is a bit itchy next to one’s skin.

Nice job! The colors are awesome!!!

Nice job! The colors are awesome!!!

I agree completely! Why would you want a tight sleeve while driving? Anyway, it’s your sweater, you get to make it how you want it.

Have to thank you for calling to my attention that I should be paying attention to how the sleeves fit on my grand daughter’s top down sweater. She’s really tall for her age, 31 inches at just 2 y.o., and the sleeves need to fit HER not the pattern.

Looks great!

The sleeve looks great to me. As the others stated much more comfortable, especially with a long-sleeve shirt underneath. Great work.
