No No…cables rock…I was “skeptical” in the round… as I only “ever” completed cables on straights…do it !!! .cables produce such an artistic project…take your time, focus, then you will see that the final “product” will be awesome…

The great thing about most cables is if you know how to knit and purl, you can do them!

Yes, It was one of those “tear off” patterns a our local craft store…Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller, the hat is called alpaca Love cabled chapeau…the actual pattern calls for a “brim”, but I decided not to add that…

So many people seem to be intimidated by cables, but there is really no need to be! It’s one of those things that looks difficult and complicated but is really very simple … all you’re doing is knitting your stitches out of order, so if you know how to knit and purl then you will have no trouble with cables.
If it’s not a design element that you’re interested in using then that’s fine, but don’t avoid cables just because of intimidation! It’s only knitting … what’s the worst thing that could happen?? Either you fail miserably (which seems pretty unlikely to me if you’ve mastered the basic knit and purl) and end up frogging, or you learn a new technique that you love! :teehee:

I agree with the others. Simple cables are one of those things that seem hard, but are incredibly easy. It’s still knitting and purling.

Aww, it’s cute! I too conquered cables whilst knitting a hat in the round. Ironic! And yes, I love cables now too.

Aww thank you…Started another “one”!!! I love this pattern soo much…I am using Caron Simply Soft (which is very nice BTW) in a shimmery beige…I think that will make the “cables” pop… maybe I will ad the brim this time…will post soon.
