I am making the Fiber trend clogs and am having trouble with the last part. " First pick up stitches around the inner sole … Beginning at hell with RS facing use the spare circular needle to pick up the top loops of the last ridge of garter st around outer edge of slipper sole." I am not understanding where this is. I pick up stitches and end up with 56 and I should have 79. I am making the women’s small.
heel not hell
You should be able to pick up in the garter stitch bumps or loops. If that’s what you did and you don’t have enough sts, you could increase on the next row to get to 79sts.
Well, sometimes these patterns can be hell, too.
ok I have 79 stitches now how do I knit the soles together
I don’t have the pattern for these clogs. Can you tell us what the next line of the directions is? We can’t have the whole pattern reprinted here because of copyright rules, but a line or two is ok.
Beginning at heel with RS facing, use the spare circular needle to pick up
the top loops of the last ridge of garter st around outer edge of slipper
sole. (Image 1)
Check that you have 79 (85, 91 / 97, 103) loops on the spare needle. Follow
joining instructions below for your choice of styles.
Shown on teal clog and also used on the brown clog.
Always use this join if suede soles will be added later.
Place working needle holding the outer sole over the outside of spare
needle holding the loops of the inner sole. (Image 2)
Hold both needles in your left hand. With the bottom of outer sole facing
and beginning at heel, knit the soles together and cast off at the same
time, as for cuff.
so this is where I am
It sounds like you’re to do 3-needle bind off to join the outer and inner sole and bind off at the same time.
Here’s a video that may help.
To do this you should have the same number of sts on the outer and the inner soles.
