Through the marvel of the Internet, recently I found another local knitter, and she and I found a local fiber guild (SE Iowa). A bunch of ladies, actually mostly weavers. who get together and do fibery things (and a potluck lunch too, had some most awesome taco soup). Today was the first get-together we went to, and they felted wool thrift-shop sweaters to make into bags! It was so much fun! I have to sew the pocket on mine yet, and I want to find a narrow belt or something to use as the strap, but it turned out so neat!
Next month has something to do with rugs, I forget exactly what, but will need fabric strips for that, again just an old thrift-store sheet will do, but in April, we’re getting together at a lady’s place who has sheep and goats and llamas, and we will be doing some spinning and knitting! Woo hoo! And another one in the future will be buttons out of Fimo clay. In the summer they don’t get together as often, as a lot of them go to sheep and fiber shows, but that’s okay, it’s our busy season around here too, as we have a perennial & landscaping business.
The lady’s house we had it at today owned an angora rabbit, and you can just gently pull the angora straight from the rabbit, and it doesn’t mind at all, it just sits calmly in your lap! He was sooo soft and looked like a ginormous cotton ball since he was albino.
