Yayyy, you finally finished the Mike Rowe socks!!! :happydance:
If he sends you a card or something, we want to know
:drooling: Manos… soo… pretty… :drooling:
I could just eat that purple, what an awesome color…
No word from Mike Rowe yet. Hmmm…
I think I’m going to make an ear flap hap with the Manos. Then I 'm going to Kool aid dye that hank of natural wool from KP and make some mitten for my son. I promised to do it a loooong time ago. Then that little bag of yarn for my clogs is staring me down. I got some socks on the needles for my cousins but right now I gotta make as many cofe bras I can for the Vagina Monologs for the WRC. They’re pinkish with little red V’s on them. Whew! I got to get on the ball!
cofe bra? sounds interesting.
hope you hear from Mike Rowe soon!
Oops thats supposed to be coffee bra :roflhard: They’re those little holders that go around a to go coffee cup. The cafe at our school is a vegan/recyclable kinda place so they don’t provide the paper holders cuz its a waste of paper. So I made some out of acrylic (cuz a lot of vegans don’t like wool) that are reusable.
Who is doing the Vagina Monologues at your WRC?? DH took me to see it here in Chicago a couple of years ago for my birthday…it was WONDERFUL! And, Femmy…you would be SO proud of my enlightened man. He bought tix FRONT ROW, CENTER…put himself RIGHT OUT THERE! The actresses were not on a stage…they were sitting on stools about 5-6 feet away from us…interacted with him and EVERYTHING! He really enjoyed & was affected by the performace as much as I was.
Just wanted to put my silly two cents in. I was raised by a feminist and I am raising my son to be a feminist. Of course, that is easy to do when you are married to a great man. He and I have taken turns being the stay at home parent and it has offered a really good example to our son.
However, I will say that raising a boy to be feminist minded can be difficult in light of bad sexual stereotyping that goes on in society and the media. And by this I mean, instead of lifting bad stereotyping up and away, at some point, we decided it would be appropriate to treat men as badly as women have been treated in the media, and this would somehow make everything okay.
Case in point: the Carl’s Jr. ad where the guy stands in front of the bread aisle for minutes with a perplexed look on his face. The meaning behind this commercial is that men in general are too stupid to figure out how to make a sandwich, and therefore should just drive right over to Carl’s Jr and get some lunch. Whatever. I can go on and on with examples. And we laugh, because isn’t it so funny that a guy can’t make a sandwich. And then my son asks me, how come he doesn’t know how to make a sandwich? I don’t know!
Anyway, blah blah blah. I thought I would also mention re: the color question. I have become the sex predictor for everyone having babies. Apparently in Canada is uncommon to know the sex of your baby before the birth. So when I was asked to knit some stuff for upcoming deliveries, I told them that I would just choose whatever yarn popped out at me. Luckily the people involved wouldn’t have a problem with whatever color I make stuff out of. But it won’t be an issue anyway because apparently whatever color I choose, determines the sex of the baby :roflhard: I bought blue and it turned out to be a boy. I bought a pinkish color, and it turned out to be a girl. So far I am two for two! Perhaps I have some secret powers?
Late to the discussion (as always  !) but I wanted to put in my favorite quote about feminism:
I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.

Blogger is down today for maintenance or something so I’ll post some picx here instead. I made some coffe bras for Vagina Monologes and I’m gonna sew some V’s on them but I’m having a hard time with it. Then I started my clogs so I thought I’d show y’all my progress and then I diyed some WOTA natural with Kool aid. I thought one color was purple but it ended up being red so I got a lot of red.
Here’s me in my blue scarf. I tried to get my son to take the picture and he was being such a butthead about it so I don’t know if you can see the whole thing.
You’ve been busy with those cup holders! I love the colors of that scarf! When I knit a scarf for myself, I’m grateful that I’m only 5’2".
I’m digging the coffee bras - I was going to make one for my Dh for Christmas, but got really far behind on gifts, and now he’s only using his travel mug (because I yell at him for wasting the paper ones he listens sometimes!!
)… Are you felting them? Why are you having problems putting a V on them??
I was LOL @ your son being a butthead (btw, the pic is good, love the scarf, you tall drink of water you!! ) - is he by any chance a teenager?? :rofling:
That’s a lovely scarf!
I could have used a coffee bra when I was at a coffee house last week! Are you sharing the pattern?
The pattern for the coffee bra is simple really. Most coffee cups are about 8 inches around. So whatever yarn yuo’re using figure out how many stiches per inch. Like if you knit 5 st per inch then CO 40 stiches. I did it in the round with k1p1 ribbing for 5 rows the switched to stockinette for 10 rows then back to ribbing for 5 more rows and bind off. I guess you could do it on straight needles back and forth and sew up a seam but I hate seaming so that’s why I did ti in he round. Its a great beginer project, great for learning to switch colors or add cables or whatever. Add some fring or novelty yarn or somethin.
So I been knitting some more on my clog while my son and I are watchin Raising Arizona. It’s kinda hard to watch and knit cuz this is such a funny movie. But it’s starting to look like a clog!
Here’s some photos
Pretty colors for your clog! Your feet look fine to me!
So you didn’t make any increases for the cup angles? Thanks! I’m going to have to try one…or ten. :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:
The clog colors are stupendous!!
Are you starting to like the clog pattern yet, Femmy?
