when felting if you use a worsted weight are you suppose to double the strand?
Felting
I would think it depended on the needle size you are using…unless the pattern specifically says to double strand, I think it would be okay to use just one. I know the felted clog pattern uses worsted, and it does state to double it…
I think it depends on the pattern. What are you planning on making?
I believe a double strand of worsted equals a chunky weight yarn. When I did clogs, I used 1 chunky weight instead of 2 strands of worsted. I’m doing a bag now and using 2 strands of worsted. My SIL is doing a bag that offered the choice of one or two strands of worsted. The chunkier weight will give you a thicker felted fabric. Have fun!
I am making a bag with worsted weight and it doesn’t say whether to ds or not.
In that case, I would only use one strand of worsted weight. The only reason you would double strand would be if you were required to use bulky weight yarn, and your directions would have told you that.
Enjoy the project!
