I’ve completed the felting process on a large tote bag, and am not able to find a box or container that will work for shaping and drying the bag. I now have it on a box that is not large enough and have stuffed plastic bags around the box in an attempt to fill it out, but it’s not working well. On my previous bag, I was able to stretch the bag over a container, and it smoothed the bag out. Right now, I have a bag that looks misshapen and a little bumpy. Suggestions??
What size is it? Can you tape 2 boxes together?
Yeah, try two boxes taped together or just side by side. What pattern is it?
Thanks for the suggestions! I was able to find another box that fit in beside the original box, and it is working much better than the plastic bags. It’s stretching the bag enough that it looks much smoother now.
I didn’t use a pattern. I did a swatch, felted it, then figured out how large I wanted the bag and went from there. It was knitted in the round, and the bottom was stitched together after the knitting was completed. The strap is made from I-cords. The dimensions after felting are 17" long, 6.5" wide, and 10" high. If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t have made it quite as long, maybe 15" or so. It is striped using blues, purples and grey. I used Cascade 220 and Knit Picks “Wool of the Andes”.
