I start off with 36 stitches. Knit the first row…fine, 36 stitches. Purl second row…fine, 36 stitches. Do the pattern row k2tog3X, 6YOknit one…I wind up with 40-42 stitches. I’ve counted, wrote it down…what am I doing wrong that after the pattern row, I have more stitches??? Thank you.
there probably should be a yarn over for every knit two together. It looks like you need to do another pattern of the k2tog if you have six yarn overs. can you write out that pattern row exactly as it is written?
isn’t there a YO before and after each K2tog?
that would result in an increase of a few each row
but i would also need to see the actual increas instructions for the row
not that I M pro, but I can usually see what is supposed to happen
usually yeah. if there are six yarn overs, i think there should be six k2tog. need the instructions to be sure though.
I think I figured it out. The Pattern reads:
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: *k2tog3X, (YO. Knit 1) 6X, (k2tog) 3X.
Row 4: Knit
I was doing k2tog 3X, YO 6X, k2tog3X and then doing another YO 6X…the row only calls for one YO 6X. Is that right?
:??
yep you got it!
I can’t believe I read the pattern 1,000 times before I got it??? Thank you.
well one good rule of thumb i have found is that unless you are making the pattern smaller or bigger in that spot, you should have one increase for every decrease. if you can look for those that usually helps…alas …as i have found on occasion…it doesn’t always though. sigh
