Feather and fan baby blanket question

I am working on a baby blanket in the feather and fan pattern. I understand how to read the pattern and do the stitches, but I am getting hung up when the pattern switches. The pattern says to repeat rows 1-4 4 times and then you switch to a new series. The problem I am having is when the pattern switches. The last row before switching (row 16) is K4 *P3. yrn. P4. P2tog. P2togtbl. P4. yrn. P3. (P1. K1) 9 times rep from * 5 times more K4. The next row (row 17) then says K4 *yfwd. K4. Sl1. K1. psso. K6. K2tog. K4. yfwd (K1B. K1) 9 times rep from * 5 more times. K4. (In this pattern it states that K1B means knit into next stitch 1 row below.) In row 17 when I go to do the K1B. K1 section is where the problem happens. I keep ending up with what looks like a dropped stitch (a large loop of yarn that seems to have no place). I don’t know if the pattern is incorrect or if I am not knitting the row below in the right place or what. Any help anyone has would be so appreciated. The picture of this pattern is so pretty, and I really want to get this figured out. The baby it is for is coming soon!! Please help!! Thank you!!

It looks to me, from the video, that you would wind up with a loop since when you knit below a stitch and then pull it off the needle the stitch above becomes elongated.

Now I’ll have to find a pattern that calls for K1B to try it out.

I have the same problem. Were you able to solve the problem or get a solution? Thanks:muah:

The link in Ingrid’s post (poat #2) is to a video for the K1B technique. Take a look at the video and that should solve your problem, too.

Were you able to solve the feather and fan 17th row problem?
Thanks. Perpetua

I have a yarn over & rw. 17 need a k.1B. Know how to do this , but don,t know where to put 1B in a yarn over. Help

Hi and welcome!
A yarn over and then a K1B? If so you would bring the yarn to the front and over the right needle for the yarn over and then do the k1b into the next stitch. The yarn over doesn’t require doing anything with the next stitch so treat the two directions separately.
if your directions mean something else, come back and ask again. It would help to have a pattern link or even a pattern name.
ETA: I think I see. This is the same pattern rows as quoted above. When I look at the stitches across the row, I don’t see the K1b falling over the yarn over from the previous row. It seems that it comes at the p3 before the (p1k1)9 times.

OK, in the sequence underlined
(row 17) then says K4 *yfwd. K4. Sl1. K1. psso. K6. K2tog. K4. yfwd (K1B. K1) 9 times rep from * 5 more times. K4.
stitch 15 (of the 18 in the repeat) winds up as a k1B into a yanr over. All the other repeats seem to fall on knit sts. I’d try either a k1b in the row below the yarn over, or just a plain k1into the yarn over and see how it looks.

What did you do on loop on ndle. & next row you K1B where loop above.

On row 17, why don’t you try a knit 1 into the yarn over loop instead of the k1B? I’m not sure how that will look with your pattern but is seems the easiest alternative.
Can you post a link to the pattern or give us a pattern name? Have you checked for corrections to this pattern?
