I looked on Amazon yesterday & they have 3 books of “ample” patterns, but when you choose the “search inside this book” option, all you get to see is the table of contents and some of the basic instructional stuff. Who’s gonna buy a book based on the index? I wanna see the GOODS!
There is also a website: www.ample-knitters.com and their patterns section contains like 2 sweaters and a whole bunch of shawls. Well, at least we know that as far as shawls and ponchos go, one size REALLY DOES fit all!
I agree about amazon not showing very much of a book. Been frustrated many times by that. However, with Rebecca, to view the patterns at least, you are in luck. You can go to their website and view all of their designs in all of their magazines. You just don’t get the part with the pattern instructions
Click on magazines, and then click on the magazine that you are interested in and you’ll be able to view the pictures. Have fun!!
Someone recently suggested the Knitty.com archives for ample patterns (there are some real beauties there!), and a recent website that someone posted, whiteliesdesigns.com, also has some attractive patterns for ample knitters, depending on your individual style.
I was on a thread here yesterday and was referred by a link to [www.whiteliesdesigns.com] I think you will find some gorgeous items to knit at this site, along with a full range of sizes. The designer used to work for Frederick’s, and is now doing knitwear patterns and kits (sweaters, lingerie, etc). She, too, is on the curvacious side and I think some of her patterns run to bust size 58. There are even a couple of videos that show her work on a local tv news show.
