Favorite On-line Yarn Store

Hello all knitters!

After spending many hours searching for on-line knitting stores, I realized I ought to ask you all what your favorite ones are, and why, if you care to share.

It would be appreciated!

I like Kaleidoscope Yarns They have a good selection and what seem like good prices to me. My orders arrive pretty promptly and when they’ve had a question about my order, they’re fun to email with. Not like emailing with the Customer Service Computer.

I really like Angelika’s Yarn Store - wonderful customer service and reasonable (but not free) shipping. Here’s the link.

I quite like the look of discountyarnsale.com - not ordered anything yet but the prices seem pretty reasonable

I like WEBS – good sales and prices (www.yarn.com). I also like woolgirl (www.woolgirl.com) – she has unusual yarns and features independent yarn makers and dyers. She wraps her ‘sales’ in nice paper and ribbon and includes little gifts inside. I have ordered online from several places and have never had a problem.

A few of my favorites.

There are so many good ones! I’m sure you’ll get plenty of response here but be sure to look at past threads too…lots of good resources.

I second knitpicks. I also like http://yarnzilla.com/ and sometimes I find good deals from eBay stores too.

Yes. I’m still wanting to order from KnitPicks; just haven’t had the right colors for what I wanted to make.

eBay is dangerous! Hard to pass up a really good deal on yarn, even if it’s not in a color I could use right away . . . could easily end up with a huge stash perusing those eBay auctions!

I like www.yarnsale.com, but I am partial to Herrschners because it is a reasonably close-by craft superstore. (Ok, it is an hour drive away, but it doesn’t bother me - I have only gone once anyway.)

I just found a great lys - I may not shop online again! teehee

Thank you! They certainly seem to have a wide selection of yarns, and, 'though not the least expensive, the savings on shipping by getting all one’s yarn in one place is attractive. I do like the way they display their yarn colors.

I love the selection on Ram Wools, they have gorgeous stuff and they’re Canadian, which I like (but they still deliver to the states).

I also really like Kaleidoscope yarns for their selection and gorgeous stuff.

I’ve recently been turned on to Etsy. I like the idea of supporting owner creation businesses. I can get some very nice yarns that are hand dyed and sometimes hand spun for about the same as I would ordering it from a “merchant for the masses.” I generally get very good customer service and the product I’m getting is usually pretty unique. I like unique! I would love to be able to buy from local spinners, but have yet to come across many that sell their spun yarns. WE have all kinds of alpaca farms here (poor babies in this horrid heat and all that wool!) and I can buy unprocessed fleece, but the spinners are actually using their products!

I also like Etsy because many of them take PayPal and I have my Pinecone Research checks deposited there. When I get up a nice savings I go shopping at Etsy!

Etsy sellers have some great yarn available, but I did purchase some from one of sellers and I got a bad deal, they sent me wet and smelly yarn. I did get a refund, but it was not a good experience.

knitncook, I agree support the people on etsy is a good idea, I hope I have the courage to try it again in the future.

I do shop at The Yarn Shop on Ebay, they have lot of variety, good prices, and fast shipping.

In addition to all of the above, www.littleknits.com is a great place to find excellent yarns on sale.

This is one of my favorites and I can hardly stay away from there! I’ve ordered from them, gotten great service and fast too! I could definitely go broke on this site and be happy!

Thanks! I just checked out that Yarnzilla site. Nice set up, and they do offer a lot of choices!

I have only bought online once, so I’m not familiar with most of these. Which one(s) have the BEST deals?

I have too stop checking back on this post and bookmarking sites!!! My eyes are bigger than my wallet!

I’ve had very good experiences with www.yarn.com, www.fullthreadahead.com, www.littleknits.com, www.sarahsyarns.com and www.knitpicks.com.
