Can someone please tell me why oh why is it that we can do a fair isle yoke sweater from the bottom up but not from the top down? I cannot for the life of me figure this out…and this is getting very frustrating for me lol.
:?? Who said you can’t do it top down? Granted I haven’t done one, but I can’t see a good reason why not.
It has something to do with increases, so I have been told. If you knit from the bottom up, you are decreasing, but with increasing, I have been told that it is not as easy, and I really don’t understand why.
Oh I see. Ingrid has done a lot of fair isle so she can probably answer this question.
I’m not sure why it would be a problem increasing but not decreasing.
Have you tried a little swatch to see what would happen if you decreased in the same manner as your pattern?
Didn’t one of the Yarn Harlot’s guest bloggers (within the last couple of months) do a top down yoke with Fair Isle? I am not sure but I think she has… Her name is Laurie or That Laurie or something.
