I have just cast on for my first Fair Isle project: the Ness Tam by Marie Wallin (I’m so excited!) - My question is: the pattern calls for 10 different colors with two colors typically knit in each row. Should I be breaking the two working yarns when I change to the next two colors in the pattern, or should I carry the yarns I just finished and twist at the beginning of the of each round? I believe someone else is/was knitting this hat, which is when I fell in love with it, so if that is the case, I would love to hear thoughts from that person or whoever else may have experience with this.
Marie Wallin’s patterns are such gorgeous examples of fair isle.
If the color is going to be used within 4-6 rounds, you could carry is up the inside otherwise it’s probably best to cut leaving a tail to weave in later. Best not to be carrying more than one or two colors up the inside.
It was @youngatheart who was going to knit this hat and can perhaps help out here.

Salmonmac,
Perfect timing; I have just started the brim in ribbing, so this information is really timely and helpful. Thank you, as always, for being here and helping me and everyone else!
