I’m knitting a fair isle style jumper. The first two or 3 rows have a particular colour that isn’t used again for another 15 rows. I watched a video on how to carry yarn over if its more than 5 stitches but this is 15 rows. What do you all do? Do you cut the yarn and rejoin later and if so… How do you secure it so it doesn’t all unravel?
If it’s a matter of carrying the yarn up as many as 15 rows, I would cut the yarn leaving a 6" tail to weave in later. When you rejoin the yarn, you don’t need to secure it. Just begin knitting with the new color, again leaving about a 6" tail. The first couple of sts may be loose but you can always snug them up by pulling on the tail. Once you weave in the tail, the sts will be secure.
Thank you that sounds like a plan! I might need some help with the sleeves when I get there. Sorry for all the questions! This will be a real community Jersey if I ever get it finished!
