Fair Isle End of Row

I’m using a fair isle hounds tooth afghan pattern on circular needles. 8 rows to complete one pattern.

Row 4 end row color MC
Row 5 start row color A
Row 6 end row color A
Row 7 start tow color MC

How do I manage the yarn from purl side to knit side? The purl side row ends in one color but the next knit row begins with a different color. I carry the yarn to the end and I’m careful to ensure I am twisting the work left to right. I don’t know the position of each yarn in order to change color on the next row. Those two rows are noticeably wrong.

Thank you.

For example, do you mean purl across the row with MC (row 4)
knit back with A (row 5)
purl across with A (row 6)
knit back with MC (row 7)?

Then it seems the colors are where you would like them. MC is at the enc of purl row 4 ready to be picked up on knit row 7. The knits may or may not be odd number rows but it won’t matter.

Yes to your example.

Your response caused a flashback. I don’t think I am actually carrying the yarn to the end. I carry it to the 2nd to last stitch, the last stitch I am trapping the stitch. I need to reverse that technique.

The videos were literal. Carry the yarn to the end. The SMEs never said trap the yarn at the end. Good grief!!

You said the yarn is where it should be. That sentence told me I was not following the literal instructions. Thank you! :pray:t5:

I’m glad that a lightbulb went off and it made sense to you. The houndstooth pattern is classic and a stand-out. Have fun working it and please let us see a photo when you finish!
