I am working on my first Feb sweater and it says to knit 4 1/2" then divide…Do I knit 4 1/2" from the start or 4 1/2" from the start of the stitch pattern/end of yoke?

Usually patterns are measured from the cast on, but you can really decide how long you want the body to be.
