EZ February Baby Sweater Sleeves

Hello,

I am trying to knit the sleeves for this sweater in the round. Has anyone done this?

I left the 28st stitches for the each sleeve on a holder while I knit the body. Once I finished the body, I went back to the the first sleeve and cast on the 7 sts at both ends and joined into a circle to knit in the round.

Now that I have knit in pattern for some length I see that there is a gaping hole from the cast on stitches. Am I supposed to seam this in when I finish? It is quite big and doesn’t look like it will sew up nicely.

Did I start the sleeve incorrectly? Did I not need to cast on the 7sts (14 total) if I knit the sleeves in the round?

Anyone with experience knitting this in the round?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Usually what I do is pick up a few sts from the sweater body and/or increase a few in place of casting on extra. You can also use the tail of the new yarn you attached to start the sleeves to sew it up.

Thanks!

What I ended up doing was pick up 7sts from the body, knit the 28sts of sleeve, pick up another 7sts from the body and joined in the round and continued to knit the sleeve in pattern in the round. Turned out really well without any seams to sew up!

Yeah, that works well, I’ve found. Glad it worked for you too.
