Explanation of pattern please

Hi again! Still working away on my first project and I’m stuck. The pattern says: (Right side). K18. (M1.K1.) 6times. K18. Cast on 24 sts for centre front. 72 sts.

Does that mean to knit 18 and then make 1, knit 1 6 times or does it mean to Make 1, knit 1 for 18 sts, and repeat 6 times?

Are there [ ] in the pattern? It’s hard to say without knowing where they are placed in the pattern.

Yes the brackets are in the pattern. This is exactly what it says:

Next Row: (Right side). K18. (M1. K1.) 6 times. K18. Cast on 24 sts for centre front. 72 sts.

Any help is great!!

K18, m1 k1, m1 k1, m1 k1, m1 k1, m1 k1, m1 k1, K18…that will give you 48 sts, then after CO 24 you’ll have 72 total sts on the needles.

Once again, Thank You!!

Hi This line in the pattern means that you are going to knit 18 stitches, you are then going to make 1, Knit 1, 6 times . It looks like in this pattern they are using () to note where your repeats will be. After you are done with your M1, K1 repeats you then Knit another 18 stitches. if my adding is correct when you are done with this section of the line you should have 48 stitches. It looks like the pattern then wants you to cast on 24 stitches this then gives you 72 stitches on the needle.

So if it where written out it would look like this:

Knit 18 stitches, make1 knit 1, make 1 knit 1,make 1 knit 1, make 1 knit 1, make 1 knit 1, make 1 knit 1, knit 18 stitches
