Explain sl1 pattern

Instructions are - K3, sl1 pwise, yarn in front, K2
I can do K3, sl1 pwise - now I’m confused. should I have yarn in back
as if to purl when moving pwise stitch and then move yarn back to front and K2 or what? Help! Than ks

The comma shouldn’t be there between sl 1 and yarn in front. Slip the st with the yarn in front, then move it back to k2. Slipping purlwise refers to how you insert the needle to slip it, not where the yarn is. Usually it should be left where ever it was for the previous stitch unless the pattern specfically says front or back which it does in this case.
