Excuse me I'm new!

I just started trying to knit two days ago. I bought the books and they didn’t help at all but after finding this site I can do a knit stitch :happydance: I’m trying to do a scarf without a pattern just using the knit stitch (since it’s the only thing I know) and I was really wanting some feedback on a easy first project. Something easy but still impressive when I’m finished any suggestions guys???
Thanks Ashley :XX:

Here and here

Both help you with the knit and purl stitches, increase’s and decreases, and also seaming

Hey Jenelle, that baby gnome is so cute! I’m gonna have to try that!

I know… this is mine:

Well, some of my first projects were :

A knitted bookmark
A knitted and felted coaster
A garter stitch shawl
A dishcloth (although this is not very impressive looking, admittedly)
child’s hand puppet

All of these can be found on the http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com site… I can link to the individual patterns if you are interested.

If I could go back in time, I would knit that super cute drop stitch scarf that is linked to on this site (and I believe there’s a whole video on how to do it)… a SUPER fast project, and it looks wonderful and cool when it’s done!

Also, anything felted is wonderful because any mistakes are hidden in the felting (shrinking) process! I made a coaster and felted it the other day, it looks really neat and took me around 1-2 hours. Maybe you could do a purse, if you’re feeling ambitious…

I started knitting a little over a year ago when my second baby was born. I made her a “dishcloth” blanket which was basic and very relaxing to work on. Since it is knit on the bias, it hugs her body and is very soft. There are many variations of this blanket, but I will give you the one I used. Or, you can google dishcloth baby blanket patterns and see dozens more. Best wishes!

It gets easier as you experiment and mess up a ton of times. It starts to feel like second nature. Have fun.

Chris
