Even increase across a row

I am knitting a swatch with 20 stitches. I have to increase 5 stitches evenly across the row which is a 2 x 2 rib. Do I increase every 4 stitches. This leaves me with an increase at the end of the row and none at the beginning. Does not look balanced to me. Help.

Hi and welcome!
You can use a calculator to do this:

or you can divide 20 by one more than the number of increases (6). You get 3.3 so alternate increasing every 3 and then every 4sts. That would be an increase at sts 3,7,10, 14, and 17. It’ll balance out fairly well.

Thank you so much for your help. It worked perfectly and the site for the calculator is a great tool for future reference. I will surely be back to this site for help. Thanks again for speedy response!
