Euroflax linen, we hardly knew ye

Yep… it’s official. I am putting away the Cat Bordhi Lavendar Eye Pillow project for now.

I have never bought yarn that was not in a ball before… so I watched Amy’s video on winding a center-pull ball, and started winding… and here is what happened.

Oh, well this is after about an hour spent of making it progressively worse. At first it was just a little tangle.

And, you can see my “center pull ball” attempt over on the right… ha ha! Not very center pull-y is it?

Poor yarn. I don’t even know what to do with the whole mess now.

:frowning: :wall:
It’s ok. Really. Just leave it alone and don’t look at it for a while. Then take it with you while you watch television one night. And do not attempt to wind a skein w/o assistance - having someone (or even a chair back!!!) to hold the yarn for you helps immensely.

I’m still sad for you… The yarn looks really nice, if that’s any consolation!!

ouch! it looks like you tried to make the center pull directly from a hank? You definitely need something to wrap that hank around before you start trying to make a ball. I did the same thing a few times and it does take a waaaaaaaaay lotta patience to get it back out. and i don’t have a way lotta patience!

PHM is right…walk away from it…leave it sit for a while and when you come back to it, you will have a MUCH easier time trying to pull it out. I would doubt it is hopeless…just looks it right now!

oh man, i totally feel your pain! That happened to me too many times before.

The curse must be spreading…

I just did something similar with a hand painted sock yarn this afternoon. I did walk away from it for a bit… but only after several oaths that would have made a sailor’s ears turn red.

:crying: Ouch!
