Establish rib for self finish

what is that and how do I do it? I’m making a hoodie cardigan for my 2 yr old daughter and the pattern for the hood has me picking up stitches on the WS and knitting a WS row, but for the next row it says:
"On next RS row, establish rib for self finish over the first 2 sts, work to last

2 sts, establish rib for self finish to end. Work even for 2"[2.25”, 2.75”] "

I’m not a total novice, but I have not clue clue what this is. Any help would be WONDERFUL :woohoo:

What comes after that?

I would read that as k1, p1, knit to last 2 stitches, then p1, k1

On the next row it would be p1, k1, purl to last 2, then k1, p1.

JUst work your sts in a rib pattern, either k1,p1, or k2, p2, whichever you like or what matches any other ribbing you might have already done in another part.
