As I was perusing through some of the patterns on my hard drive, thought of doing an Entrelac bag. Think I’ll probably do it in a similar style as the felted bag I showed on here a week or so ago.
Will you work it in the round? I think it’s easier to do in the round than flat.
I’ll do the bottom flat, then pick up the stitches and knit in the round. once I get to the top triangles I’ll probably knit Stockinette for a few rounds to create the drawstring openings.
That sounds cool. What yarn do you have in mind?
At the moment, I’ll probably go ahead and use the Plymouth Wool I have on hand, since I have a lot of it left over from making my dad’s slippers.
How will you change from entrelac to SS? Will you BO then pick up stitches? I went from doing the entrelac in the round to plain knitting and think I remember how I did it. There was a problem way back in the project and I frogged it so I can’t even look at what I did. I didn’t post to someone else’s question because I’m not sure. I think I did the final triangle round but didn’t k2tog at the end of each row to leave live stitches. Do you know if that works? I maybe should look at a video again to even know if I’m remember how those final triangles are done. LOL
Not sure yet, but am thinking doing a BO then PU and knit. I’m still working this out, but your assistance is certainly helping, better than doing it on the fly anyway.
Doing it on the fly…making it up as I go along…my trademark! I’m also interested in doing an entrelac bag so I’m gaining from your input too. Yarn and knitting codependce, I
it! I’ll be interested in updates as you go along, please.
Well I’ve done a couple of Entrelac pieces, mostly to work out how the technique was done, but I’ve never knit it in the round, should be interesting to say the least.
I used this video. Entrelac in the Round / Seamless Entrelac. I made a square-ish piece flat first. When I was working seamlessly I used my left hand to knit back w/o turning and to pick up stitches going back. Someone else said they used a crochet hook to pick up stitches, I never even thought about that and doing it left handed worked for me. If they help, these are tips, if not the price is the same.
