I downloaded a knitting pattern and was told to enlarge to 246…how can I do that and where can I do that…

Which pattern, is there a picture? Maybe you need to cast on that many, or if it’s knit in 2 pieces cast on half that many each for the front and back. Or you have to have that many sts at the underarm, but start out with less. This is all speculation and not necessarily right; we need a lot more information before we can give you a correct answer.
