Ending on 1st or 5th rnd

my pattern states: work approx 2 ins in texture pattern ending on a 1st or 5th rnd of pattern.
My question is do I work the 1st or 5th rnd or do I stop the rnd before the 1st or 5th rnd?
Hope that makes sense.
