Ending I-cord when used as a seam

Hi-
I have made an I-cord seam as a decorative edge to join two sides of a bag I will be felting. How do I end the cord? I have 4 open stitches
to close. A regular bind off leaves an unsightly ridge that sticks out off the side of the cord. Thanks!

Hmm… I’d say regular bind off, but maybe you can knit the center two together and then the three together? Dunno, you might have to experiment. Felting covers a multitude of sins though so I wouldn’t worry too much as long as it’s somewhat rounded or something.

I was thinking I could just fudge something since it would be felted. I guess I just needed validation!

But…now that I’m thinking…how do you usually bind off for an I-cord?

I’m not sure there is a specific one. For me personally I just try to make it look decent.

I pull the tail through all the stitches at the end like at the top of a hat.

I made a few baby bonnets for friends and I made I-cord for the ties. I used 3 sts. When it was as long as I wanted it, I BO like normal and then I ran my tail through the center of the I-cord. i pulled it really tight (it was bunched up) and then I cut the tail and pulled on the cord and the tail was left inside. I hope this makes sense.
