Embellishing a Vintage Christmas Stocking

This past year, my mother-in-law gave me all of her knitting stuff. Her arthritis is very bad now, so she can’t knit anymore.

In the bag were two Christmas stockings that she had finished knitting, but hadn’t seamed together yet.

She asked me to finish one of them up, so she could give it to her great-granddaughter (my hubby’s granddaughter). I decided to add some duplicate stitch designs to dress it up a little.)

Now, I just need to seam up the back, and it will be ready to go.

So cute ! Didn’t you do some stockings for someone from an old pattern a few years ago … for family additions since the originals had been made ??

Thanks Debbie!

Yes, I made 4 stockings (3 last year, 1 this year) from the free 1945 vintage pattern online. She has already ordered 2 more for next year. :teehee:

In this photo, you can see the first 3 I knit, with the original she gave me to copy. (The original has the name “Brett” on it.)

Very cool … Love the vintage pattern!

I love it! the embellishments are perfect! What a sweet gift

Thanks Margaret!

It’s nice that you could finish these up for her. It’s always a little sad when folks get to the point that they can’t do the crafts they once enjoyed. Nice additions to the Santa stocking.

Thank you, my friend!

Those came out beautiful!! What a nice thing to do!

Thanks Jan!
