Elongated stitch

How do you stop loose stitches at the ends/beginning of your project? I can’t get the video “demo small project” to play. It will start then stop after long tail cast on. I tried to use, save target as, still no luck . I’m new to the knitting world and trying to make the elongated stitch scarf, but the elongated stitches are angling to one side. And you can see this BIG old loose stitch at the start of the knit row, after the elongated row…HELP!
Thanks

Can you post a photo of what you mean?

I found when doing the elongated stitch I had to give it a few gentle tugs across the rows to get it to even out across the row.

No, wish I could post a picture.
It’s the last elongated stitch of the row and its always on then same one side. I’m not sure if I can explain it. I’ve checked my number of wraps to make sure I’m not putting in an extra one… I keep thinking that when I do the knit stitch, where you unwrap the elongated stitch, I’m not pulling the tension right to make the all the elongated stitches come out even.

Is this the same problem you’re having?

I tried it with some different yarn so I could see what was going on, a little better. It’s the actually elongated stitch itself. The whole elongated row angles to one side, the first stitch is shorter then the last. Is there a way to straighten the row? when you wrap the yarn around the needle does it matter which direction you wrap it to make the elongated stich?
