I really enjoy working with circular needles. Is it possible to knit the front and back of a sweater up to the decreases for the sleeve shaping on circular needles and eliminate the side seams?
It’s possible to knit a whole sweater in the round.
If you take it up top down may be the better option so you can try it on as you go.
I’ve never done it but it is on my to-do list. I’ve never avoided side seams but I do often switch sleeves to DPNs to avoid seaming.
Yes, you can do it the way you propose, the top parts for the front and back will be knit as if separate in the original pattern.
I’ve done several sweaters in the round on my circs, and enjoy it. Once or twice I even got brave and kept going at the armholes working them with steeks so that I did not have to put the sweater on separate circs or straight needles when I got to the armholes, especially if using a fair isle type of patterning.
