Einstein coat sleeves again! smaller?

Hi! Well, I was reading over at Knitter’s Forum and Ravelry and several people say their sorry they made the sleeves so big.
And, most people know about the lady who devised a way to make the sleeves not like “bat wings” so she did a gusset under the arm.
I’m not sure I can do that, I was going to read through it one more time, but then

this person says, which sounds pretty good, to seam the sides up til where you want the sleeves, about 2" less than the pattern and that takes care of the problem better. She said the gusset in her opinion, just added MORE fabric.

That sounds simple and like I could do it. But my other question! is
Why not just knit the sleeve in the round once you pick the stitches up? I don’t see why not but I’m a bit new at sweaters so maybe I’m missing something. Is that impossible?

so close to finishing yet so far!

I don’t see why you can’t do that. Many sleeves are too big for me, so I’ve taken to making the armhole smaller and picking up the stitches, too.

Since the Einstein is all knit, though, you’ll have to knit one row, purl one row to get garter.
