Egeblad Doily questions HELP

I have started and restarted this doily at least 15 times. I am enclosing the link to the pattern, which is: http://www.yarnover.net/patterns/doilies/kunststrik/egeblad.html

I get to row 34: -> 5 …

Abbreviations: -> = knit as many stitches as indicated onto last needle of previous round before starting new round.

Can anyone tell me what this means?

I did not use 4 DPN, I used 3 (co 3, 4, 3) So the pattern ends each row with the right number of stitches. This is where I get stuck–what to do now.

Any help would be much appreciated. This is my first thread so I hope it works out. I can also be emailed at tntoldcarz@hughes.net

Thanks
Tammy

That particular symbol means that you’re shifting the start of the round over. In this case, remove your marker, knit 5, replace the marker and make this the start of your next round.

Are you saying that on the next round I skip those 1st 5 stitches on the needle? Because I end the round evenly each time between needles. I hope I’m making sense.

Shouldn’t I be ending at the stitch marker?

You don’t skip them, you knit them and count the next stitch as the first stitch of the next round.

You may have to shift the stitches on your needles to continue to keep each section on it’s own needle.

Ok that makes since. But why didn’t they just say K5, *yo, …

Wouldn’t that have been easier. Everything that I have found sounded like you don’t do anything other than move your stitch marker up 5 stitches. I couldn’t figure out that would change anything.

Thanks for the help… Maybe now I can finish this Doily

Jogging or jumping forward or backwards actually resets the pattern so it will be inline once the project is finished. When you move the main round marker, be sure to move all other markers accordingly. It is a permanent transition unless the pattern tells you otherwise.
