Edgar and Hitchcock (aka Pasha the Penguin)

Pasha the Penguin (from Knitty.com)

I made two - Hitchcock (in the red scarf) for my sister, and Edgar (in the variegated scarf) for a friend

Face Off,Queued Up,Facing Front,Back to Back

Ooooooo! Precious! I want a penguin, I want a penguin!

These are GREAT! I love the pictures.

My FIL LOVES penguins so I have this one in my queue to make for him. Was all the seaming bad? Seaming is my least favorite part!!!

The seaming wasn’t bad, but be aware that there’s (IMO) a lot of easing that has to be done between the back and the belly.

Also, a couple of suggestions:
[ul]*If you’re going to use polyfill stuffing, I’d suggest using a pantyhose leg to hold the stuffing and keep it from poking through to the outside. [/ul]
[ul]*I’d read a couple of blogs where people mentioned having problems making the completed penguin stand up, and they suggested putting something weighty in the bottom. I used poly-pellets.[/ul]
[ul]*Finally, I didn’t find out until after I’d finished that the yellow is to be used double-stranded, so you might want to take a note of that.[/ul]

Thanks for all those great tips. I’m working on another knitted item that has to stand up on its own and I had a bear of a time - and it still won’t stand up. I never knew about the poly-pellets - I will DEFINATLEY have to get some of those!

so cute!!!

great job!

Those are so cute! My ds loves penguins – I might have to make one for him sometime.

Too cute!! Love the little scarves on them!

Oooooooooooh! The cute! It is too much!

I liked the “Queued Up” picture best.

I have yet to try my hand at knitted toys. Those penguins look FANTASTIC!

Thanks, everyone!

I’d never knitted a toy before, either. Nor had I ever done anything with short rows, so this was a perfect opportunity to try something new.

Those are adorable! I have a friend who loves penguins–I may have to try one of these!

I love the back to back picture, looks like they’re about to “draw”!!! Very cute!!

How cute! Great job!
