Easy camisole or shell?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a beginner sleeveless sweater/ camisole/ shell pattern to try. The only thing I have knitted so far is basically a practice scarf in various different stitch patterns to get a feel for knitting.

Any ideas? Or should I stick to flat square things until I am more experienced?

PS I do not have any yarn yet. A stash of zero! I used up both my balls of wool blend for the scarf.

This one looks pretty easy

I have this pattern - http://www.ptyarns.com/detail_patterns.asp?co=Plymouth&pa=Wildflower+DK+Adult+shell - which has an easy plain version, a reverse stockinette version, and a lacy front version. It is knit in the round, but is pretty simple and straightforward. The edges of the sleeves have some funny stitches, but if you just do exactly what the pattern says, it works out OK.

This one looks simple enough.

You could also try here and search for “shell”, “easy shell”, “simple shell” etc… other search words might be camisole and tank top.

I recently knit this

It was really easy, knit in the round - no sewing. Is has directions for the cami with thin straps, or wider straps.

This Ballet Camisole is easy if you can use circular needles.
Let us know what you decide to try

Thanks guys! I knew you’d give me some great ideas. My decision on what to knit just became an emergency as my Knitpicks Options set arrived a day early!!! :woot:

Yes, even though I am a beginner I splurged on the set of needles everyone is raving about. Hopefully I won’t be dropping stitches all over the place. I’ve learned on bamboo straight needles.

I have decided to try http://www.chicknits.com/catalog/chickami.html this one. But I liked a couple of the others enough to put them on the future list. Especially the ballet camisole. That little gather in the front might make it look like I actually have boobs. :eyes:

OK now off to the LYS to pick some YARN!

Another one I like is http://www.berroco.com/200/200_laverne.html

I’m about to start it

I really like this pattern and was all set to order it, placed my order and went to check out, THEY WANT $4.75 to ship a $3.00 pattern!!!:tap:

That’s cute! You picked a good one.

Ginny :noway: I think I originally found that pattern at Patternworks, but I haven’t been able to find it there now. It’s a Plymouth pattern - maybe someone else will have it and have better shipping rates.
