Duplicate stitch to mimic garter stitch

I’ve made a mistake in a shawl pattern that I’ve decided not to correct - it would take too much pulling back - but I’m wondering if I could disguise it with a duplicate stitch. I have two rows of stocking stitch where I should have one garter band - it’s not a disaster as it’s consistent across the row.
However, I think a true duplicate stitch would need two rows as the top of the stitch that would make the bump is already held down by the incorrect row above.
Can anyone think of a fix I can apply with a darning needle and yarn?
I’ll try to attach the picture - it’s the stocking stitch row in the middle where the blue goes under the gold slipped stitches!

I couldn’t find a video for this. It may take experimenting with a swatch to find the right combination to make a garter stitch row. The other possibility is to leave it. Perhaps at the color transition it won’t be so noticeable? (Couldn’t open the photo.)
