Sweater, I have cast on 80 worked rib and switched to US 9 needles. Now I’m ready to begin increases. I don’t understand the directions. The increase tip on pattern says I’ll be doing yarn overs for increases. I have a center back marker. Also please explain the A1 diagram for sleeves. This shouldn’t be so confusing. I think the wording is throwing me off.
Help?
The wording is confusing. You’re going to be increasing 8sts to a total of 88sts for size small. The pattern wants 2sts increases in the first 15sts, 4sts increased in the next 40sts, 2sts increased in the final 25sts. Distribute the increases as evenly as reasonable within thos sections (mark them off to make this easier to work). Alternatively you could just work the increases every 10sts (8sts increased over the initial 80sts) over the round.
This knitter has posted a simplified version for the M sweater that may be useful. There’s also a written pattern for A1. It’s K1,p1,k2,p1,k1.
You could put in marker either side of the A1 pattern along your needles to make this easier to work.
Thank you for your help. I’ll investigate the Simplified directions!

You will need to look back and forth between the two but the simplified directions will help. If you have questions we’re always happy to try to help. Good luck with it!
