Drop Spindle Question

 Hi! My question is this:

I really really need a spindle soon… (Like, in the next month soon)… I am going to die if I can’t get a good spinning fix soon… I’m currently using a very wobbly homemade CD spindle (Thanks walmart photo center and AOL!) and it’s driving me crazy. I don’t have anything to make it with, and they CD’s are currently being held on with some never dry modeling clay. (You can tell, I’m desperate!) Every time I spin, the clay shifts and I have to readjust the clay.

Sooo… I have $15.00 dollars. What spindles can you recommend with a clear conscience? :teehee:

Spinsanity spindles and Annie May spindles (both have etsy stores) are beautiful, have a great following and are very afforable. (but just a few dollars over $15. Like $16-18. Happy shopping.

Is it much of a difference with Top whorl/bottom whorl? I’ve used top, but not bottom whorl. I found one I LOVE, but it’s a bottom whorl.

(BTW, It kinda humorous about the Annie May spindles… Most of hers are exactly 16.89… Which is exactly what I have… Just wanted to save some for shipping. But I may have to beg $3.75 off my parents… :teehee:

My DH makes wooden spindles that can be used as either a top or bottom whorl. They don’t have cup hooks, but do have a place so your half hitch doesn’t come undone.

I’ve found a wonderful device at the hardware store that i can put under the whorl for added weight for when I want a heavier spindle. All it takes is an allen wrench to put it on or take it off.

I have 3 of these left. $10 for the spindle alone or $15 including the weight doo-dad (plus shipping)

oh those are neat… Thanks for letting me know! I’ll think on it. So far it’s a tye between this one and another I found on Etsy.
