Dreaded Slip Stitches

Although I have been knitting simply for a while I admit that I am a novice when it comes to more technical dealings. I am working on a baby blanket and I can’t make my slip stitch to work.

My pattern is:
slip 2, hold at back of work, k2, then k2 from holder.
slip 2, hold at front of work, k2, then k2 from holder.

Please help me to get this to work, I’m really frustrated!! :frowning:
Thank you

You slip the 2 stitches onto a cable needle and let the cable needle hang to the back of your work, knit the next 2 stiches on your needle, then knit the 2 stitches that are on the cable needle.
then for the next instructions, you do the same but hold the cable needle to the front of your work

Hope this makes sense…

And welcome to the forum!!

Those look like cable directions.

You need to use a cable needle, or a double pointed needle–anything with two ends that you can knit off of, basically.

Slip two stitches from your left needle, as if your are going to purl, to the cable needle (or whatever) and put that to the back of your work.

Knit two from your left needle, then knit the two from your cable needle.
