Dr. Lewis's Beret from ER

I was hoping that someone could help me make up a pattern for her hat that is from some of the first seasons episodes that have been airing over the past few weeks on the WB or TNT. Basically, it’s a beret that has braided cables that go from the brim to the top and it looks like its knitted with a sport weight yarn and smaller needles. I don’t have a picture, but as soon as I get home I will try to get one to post for a visual.

Here’s a thread that has a similar hat. Well now that I look at it maybe the shape is similar, but the design is different.

Dang, both are kids’ sizes and not free patterns, but maybe you can find at the library?

OOOooooOOOh I like this. I wanna make one too. Maybe if you just cast on number of stiches to fit your head then immediatly after the ribbing increase by a couple of inches, then do cable pattern for a lot longer than usual for a hat then small decreases for the crown. I don’t know, that’s what I would play around with. Good luck!
