Hey everyone,
I’m knitting a beret that started on circular needles and then switched to dpn’s. I got the first round on the dpn’s ok, but the second needle is reversing itself for some reason. does anyone know how to fix this? i am working in st st, if that helps.

I’m not sure what you mean by reversing it. Are you knitting on the inside of the circle? Or did you twist the stitches somehow?
no, the stitches aren’t twisted, but my wrong side and right side are switched.
Did you set it down and pick it up again and maybe started going the wrong way?

You’re supposed to work in a spiral, it sounds like you may have accidentally started going back the other way. I think I did that once when I started. Just remember that with DPNs, you always start with an empty needle in the right hand, one with stitches in the left, like when knitting flat. BUT unlike knitting flat, the working wool is not coming off the back of the needle in the left hand: the working wool is coming off another needle on stitches a bit over to the right, on the next needle to the right.
That happens if you are knitting on the “inside” of the circle, but it would be on all needles. This is happening only on one needle? :??
I am about to begin my first attempt at picking up sts for baby sleeves using 5 dpns. Yikes! so, the post is of high interest for me, too. I do not understand what you mean by the above, at all. Is there a video on this? Or perhaps, you wouldn’t mind teaching step by step. I assumed that I would knit putting the needle in the sts the same way, and that the knit sts would look the same, just going around left to right after putting in a marker at the very beginning. I am unclear by what you wrote. Sorry! Can you explain it another way? Or reword it for this beginner of knitting in the round? Thanks,

How many stitches do you have on each needle? I nearly stitched from the wrong side of a dpn this weekend, so I can see it potentially happening if you’re weary and using four needles with only a few stitches on each.
If you’ve accidentally turned one of the needles in this way, you’ll have to frog back.

If you mean that the inside has now moved to the outside, you need to turn the work back the right way round again, like turning a sock inside out.
