Downsides of acrylic?

Vanna’s Choice is a thicker yarn than SS, so if you go up to a size 10 needle, it won’t be as thick and heavy. Especially if it was to be a blanket.

I won’t argue with you that Red Heart is pretty rough to work with, but did want to add that after the first wash, it’s hard to believe it’s the same yarn.

I third that. I have a huge skein of Super Saver (I am knitting the Evangelines with it) and while I know it’s a pain to knit with (scritchy scratchy) it’ll wash fine.

The Red Heart Soft Yarn is fine to work with- I am making some charity baby hats with it.

I think it’s a matter of personal sensitivity regarding RHSS. I do not find it soft even after washing and using fabric softener. I have sensitive skin and because of that I would never use it on a baby. For an adult with normal skin it might be fine though. I just prefer to use the softer acrylics including the lovely Red Heart SOFT.

I made a baby sweater for a co-worker with the Vanna yarn. It came out really nice, and they loved it (my co-worker said his wife put it on the baby more than any other…until she grew it out!)
