I have 1 large ball made with two yarns which I balled by hand. I am spending more time untwisting then I am knitting the pattern. I have searched on KH and haven’t found a solution, perhaps I am overlooking it. I have completed over 48 rows of the pattern and like I said it is very time consuming when you have to stop and work the twists out…
Have you tried holding the ball of yarn and letting the needles and knitted project dangle freely? That way it can untwist itself.
That said, I think the easiest way to knit with two or more strands of yarn is not to wind a single ball but to keep the yarns separate, either in ziploc bags or bowls.
Yes, it’s better to knit with the 2 strands separate; when they’re wound together they don’t knit at the same tension, as well as the twisting problem.
