Double Pointed Needles

Hi all,

I’m in the midst of knitting a hat in the round. I’m still at the point where I’m on circular needles. When I switch to DPNs, is it absolutely essential that I divide the stitches evenly? I have 66 stitches cast on, and I’m wondering if I can divide that onto 3 needles so it’s even–22 stitches on each. Or, should I try dividing onto 4 needles, and have an uneven amount on each?

Thanks in advance!!

You don’t have to divide them evenly. The only time stitch numbers really count is if you have to do certain things to certain sections of the pattern as in sock feet.

I would go with the 3 needles since you knit down to so few stitches at the end of a hat.

Thanks Ingrid! Wow, you’re fast with your responses…I appreciate all your help! :notworthy:
