Double Knitting

I’m working on the Double Knit Heart Hot Pad. Seems like a fun valentine project.
Other than hot pads, what other items would use this technique?

There are a couple of knitting books on this concept, I think I saw them at Amazon…

I don’t own any of them, but I too am interested in double knitting. I’m working on a camera case using it.

I posted about this a few weeks ago, and it seems that one of the downfalls of double knitting is that it takes so darn long!

I think for small tubes that don’t need increases/decreases it seems the easiest.

You can make just about anything with double knitting - sweaters, socks, etc. but I guess it takes pretty long and doing increases and shaping can be pretty complicated.

I’d really like to do that hot pad too, but I’m a little afraid of color work. I haven’t done any yet.

For anything that you would like to be reversible…I think hats are probably most common, but someone else was looking into a DK scarf…

I have seen a double knit blanket.

Oh, I wanted to add that the nice thing about double knitting is that if you’re using a self-striping yarn, the stripes on both sides of the tube look the same.

Like I said, I’m making a camera case - I will have to find off in a special way so that it stays an open tube… a normal bind off would close it up, like the heart hot pad. Anyhow… the camera case looks cute because on both sides it has the same color stripe.
