I know how to double knit back and forth, but I tried to do it in the round, and couldn’t figure it out. I’m sure there is a way to do it. Anyone know how? Eric
It is pretty much the same as back and forth, the most important thing is to make sure you move both strands in between the needles for each knit and purl. What exactly are you having trouble with because it took me a few times to get a double knit bag in the round going? Hopefully I can help you 
From what I’ve read it is the same as flat, but I haven’t learn this yet. Is it the joining part that’s the problem?

the biggest difficulty with double knitting in the round, for me, is tension.
my knits and purls are close… but my purls are just the littlest bit looser (unless i think about it!)
when flat double knitting, no problem–each side gets purled…
but in the round, every round is K1, P1, and all those purls are always on one side… (and if i don’t think about what i am doing, all those purls are looser… not much but enough that one side is slightly bigger than the other!
In some ways, (chart reading!) working double knitting in the round is easier… (no edges also makes it easier!)

Same as Of Troy, the inside layer of my hats are slightly larger.
I either plan and make that the color most likely to be worn out or make the hat a little smaller and block it out.
With me it’s not so much the K vs P, it’s the strand of yarn that goes on my back finger doesn’t get bound up as tight as the first strand I wrap for my front finger.
Even when I do socks where both sides are Ks the inside one is looser.

You don’t say what the problem was. Yes it can be done.
I have done it as well. Though I can’t remember how I joined it in the round…
My problem is that after switching the yarn positions all the time, the yarn ends up very tangled…
Oh, and my hand gets bad when it’s cotton.
HEy, Sunni, Thanks for your reply. What I am doing is a sock. I am working on a sock that has a double knit heel flap. It is so soft, and I thought if the bottom of the sock were like this it would feel even better. I did manage to figure it out after all, and I am going to give it a try. Double knit the bottom for the soul, and do the normal for the top of the foot. Thanks again. Eric
