The yarn she used were two different self-striping yarns. Doh. I can see that now. Yes, they create a beautiful look…but they would drive me BATTY with the double knitting technique. I’d go crazy keeping track of what gets knit and what gets purled!
Yeah, the crazy was what was happening to me when I tried using the two self striping yarns. These two contrasting yarns helped me figure out what I was doing. I think I could do it with the striping yarn now, but I may want to take the chart and color it with my two predominant colors so I wouldn’t be going, “Is the white square the orange or the blue?” all the time.
Kathleen Sperling seemed very willing to help with questions, but I hated to bug her too much. Another gal on Rav who had made a couple of the hats helped me too.
