Double cast on question

I’ve just started knitting recently and I’m trying the double cast on method for a scarf (first one). What I’m confused about is when I get to the end of my first knit row, (the first loop of the cast on), it seems not to be a real stitch. I’m guessing because you get 2 loops with the first stitch of the cast on. Do I treat these 2 loops as 1, or do I knit them separately?

Thanks to anyone who can figure out this description of what’s happening!

Yeah, it does look a little different, but it is considered a stitch, and should be counted and knit separately from its neighbor. HTH

Aha. Thanks so much!
