Double cast on (long tail) and needle size

For a tight-ish knitter (me), is the double cast on method stretchy enough that I shouldn’t use a larger needle for my cast on, or can I still do that to make sure it’s not too tight?

I don’t want to end up with a loose or un-sturdy cast on. I know I should probably just try it out, but I already finished my swatches using a different cast on and I don’t want to start over!

If it’s for something like a sleeve cuff or the cuff of a sock or anything like that that shouldn’t be too tight or you won’t be able to get it on…use a larger needle for the cast on or two needles held together. Otherwise, it shouldn’t matter too much.
