Everyone seems to rave about Boogas and it seems that just “every one” is making one (or has in the past)…however, I was wondering…are they really practical----looks like they would be hard to get into and find things that migrate to the bottom of all bags.
Don't want to cause a riot but what is so great about booga?
I’ll let you know how I feel about it when I finish mine. I’ve never been a fan of felting, so I’m going out of my comfort zone by making this!
My guess is because they are fairly easy, so many people choose them for their first bag project and felting projects. I do find that everything migrates to the bottom, but it’s just sooo pretty!!
You know what I think is the big rage? The Noro yarn that the bag is showed in on the pattern. Also, it’s a really great pattern for a first circular project AND for a first felting project.
As far as practicality, I used mine all last summer and it was okay but there was definitely the migration of stuff to the bottom. I stopped using it, but it IS cute!
I made one because it was a very easy first felting project. Also, the pattern is very easy to adapt - change the size, add a lining, add a pocket, add a closure… Just a good jumping off point. :XX:
I have to agree that it is a great beginner project. Being a beginning knitter myself, I just found it so fascinating that I could make something so pretty! I made mine small, so I don’t have the migration problem, but I have noticed that people are making organizers to fit inside them.
Ya know when I first read this topic I said OOOOOOOOOooooooo yer gonna get it! You don’t mess with knitters and thier booga. BUt everyone here is so cool. I don’t know why I went stright to the controversial mode. I need more faith in the power of positive thinking
Like my hairball kitty purse, everything DOES migrate to the bottom…and it isn’t the most convenient of purses…but its just so durn cute! Plus easy to make quick gratification all that good stuff. Whats not to like! It isn’t a Coach, or whatever, but its unique and fun and different.
Its kind of like making socks, yeah they cost more to make and take along time, but at the end what a fabuloso thing you have.
I use mine when I’m not carrying anything but a wallet, phone, and hairbrush. I get so many compliments on it, but that’s totally the Kuryeon pattern. I think everyone makes it because it’s easy and it’s quick and the name just sounds fun.
