This ribbed scarf is a fairly quick knit. I did it over a weekend in my spare time and had it finished and tassled almost exactly when the snow started to melt on Monday. But Man! was my neck warm 
Materials: dk weight alpaca, doubled
US #10 needles
Directions:
Cast On 34 stitches
Row 1 and 3: Slip 1, Purl 1, Knit 2, Purl 2 until end
Row 2 and 4: Slip 1, Knit 1, Purl 2, Knit 2 until end
Row 5: Slip 1, Purl 1, Knit 2 Together without slipping sts from needle, then k first st again, drop sts off of needle, Purl 2 until end
Row 6: Slip 1, Knit 1, Purl 2, Knit 2 Tog as aboveuntil last two stitches, Knit 2
Continue this until 5 feet or desired length.
Then tassle the heck out of it - I did 9 times on each side to be exact
what does the * mean?? and what are they talking about inte 5 and 6… its a really cute scarf unless you suggest another pattern with the same materials
